We are thrilled to announce our investment in the Series A of Grovo this morning. We think Grovo can make a real difference in helping people be more productive with the tools they use (or should be using) every day.
We all know that online opportunities are changing both traditional educational institutions and corporate training. Our prior investment in Novo Ed is pursuing the former opportunity. Grovo is attacking the latter.
There are several things about Grovo that really caught our attention:
- They’ve built a product that people really like. You can see it in the numbers. Organic traffic is growing. Completed courses per user are increasing. Great user experiences are translating into inbound calls from companies.
- Companies have demonstrated that they are willing to pay for the product to help their users transition to cloud-based services, increase productivity and keep their skills sharp.
- This approach to training for cloud-based services (focus on productivity tools, bite-sized videos, clear editorial voice and quizzes to confirm learning) is just the beginning.
- A dedicated team led by CEO Jeff Fernandez that: 1) has a clear point of view, but is willing to run experiments and live with the results, 2) understands that creating user value is what creates company value, and 3) can be both bulldog and chess master.
