My Philosophy: 

I’m excited to work with teams that have top decile obsessiveness and an evident competitive nature.  A mentor once told me investors were only good at giving money and helping with hiring. I’ve always seen that as a starting point, not the ceiling. That's why I've spent nights and weekends with startups I've backed doing everything from acting as an extra engineer building integrations and internal tooling, cold-calling enterprises to cold start GTM motions, and helping set up product metrics dashboards. Founders put their lives into their companies and deserve investors who hustle just as hard.   The best investors bat for their founders at any level and are just as scrappy.

Experience: Before joining Costanoa, I was at General Catalyst Venture Fellows as Head of Investments, focusing on New York, and then Hummingbird Ventures after graduation.  I spent time as an operator when someone offered me a SAFE at 16, and then in college working on 360 videoconferencing as an Emergent Ventures Grantee and Canaan VC fellow.  Throughout all of these experiences, I worked at a few startups and smaller funds, honing my investment style of being as close to teams on the ground as their founding engineers.

A Little More About Me: Outside of work, Sean enjoys swimming, fencing, running and delving into obscure historical topics. A lifelong geography enthusiast, he prides himself on being a top-tier map trivia player. Other enthusiasms include tinkering with smart glasses, building “openrouters” for different B2B SaaS startup products, and memorizing obscure piano pieces.
